The Feast of Pentecost is the annual celebration of the day when the Promise of God's Holy Spirit was poured out on the 120 disciples of Jesus as they waited and prayed. Were we able to gather the Church would have been dressed in Red and streamers would have been given to the congregation to mimic the tongues of fire which came upon the gathered assembly. It is suggested that as you gather today that Red be a predominant colour and that some kind of symbalism of the tongues of fire be part of your gathering. The audio recording contains the reading from the Acts of the Apostles as well as a reflection on the readings of the day. May God bless you all as you reflect on the words of the hymns chosen and meditate on the readings and message.
The picture used for today's service notice was drawn by Lukas Webber for the service of ordination to the Diaconate for Beverly van der Jagt held last year at this time.
The text for the liturgy is used by permission granted by the Anglican Church of Canada and the hymns are in public domain.
