Where, O where does our dollar go?
It is absolutely amazing to me what is accomplished with the money that I believe God has asked me to contribute toward His work in the world. A relatively small amount of money goes a very long way. In the lines that follow I want to share with you how your donations to Christ Church, Lively - help us do the work of God in the world.
The first 10 cents of every dollar goes to the work of God in areas such as the Arctic regions of Canada and for work among the native peoples. This is done through our connections with the national Church which provides resources and financial assistance to the congregations that gather in the more remote areas of our country. This money also goes toward staff support in our National Office of the Anglican Church of Canada.
The next 15 cents of every dollar goes to provide for the salaries of the staff in our Diocesan office. This includes the salary and housing allowance for our Bishop. It also includes the salaries of the Executive Archdeacons, the Diocesan Treasurer, the Diocesan Program Consultant, the Bishop’s Executive Assistant, and other clerical help. From this meagre amount also comes funding for the various committees and Diocesan programs that assist the local congregation in many ways.
To provide for Pastoral leadership at Christ Church in the form of an ordained priest the congregation is asked to contribute toward the Rector’s stipend and provide a place for him to live. Due to the recent joining of the congregations the amount needed for this item has been reduced for each congregation. About 35 cents from each dollar received at our current income goes to this budget item This amount provides a trained person who has been licensed by the Bishop to provide sacramental and teaching ministries for the congregations and to be a link to the wider community.
The remaining 40 cents goes to providing buildings in which the congregations can meet and offer the various ministries that God has led them into. We provide a place where people can express their worship of God in a thoughtful and beautiful way. We offer care to the people of the community of Lively, particularly those connected to the congregation in some way, when they are sick or lonely through visits, telephone calls or cards. We provide a place and activities that encourage people to get to know one another. The congregation, through its members, helps in the community in many different ways. Growth in our relationship with Jesus Christ is fostered through the Sunday morning worship service as well as opportunities to encounter God through reading the Bible in small groups through the week. Children are helped to understand their relationship with God through a very well run Christian Education program. We also spread the message of God’s good news to the people we meet in respectful and thought provoking ways.
As you can see an incredible amount of God’s work is done with the money that is contributed to this Church. Even though the numbers used above are approximate they reflect the actual numbers quite well. For more complete details and more accurate numbers you are asked to contact the Church Officials through the office at 692-3344 (Lively)
All donations are greatly appreciated,

Portable Media Projector |
A video projector takes a video signal and projects the corresponding image on a projection screen using a lens system. We would like to increase the amount of online content that is used in our Sunday School program. In order to do this we require a video projector to display web based content through a connected laptop. Moving to web based content will decrease our physical media costs while increasing the quality of our teachings. Other uses for a projector include presentations, training and live events applications. |
Projector Screen |
A projection screen is an installation consisting of a surface and a support structure used for displaying a projected image for the view of an audience. A good screen allows projected content to appear much clearer and brighter than using another medium such as a wall. In order to most effectively use a mobile projector, we would require an appropriate screen. A transportable screen would allow us to use a projector throughout the Church, depending on our daily requirements. |
